PROJECT PRODUCTS

A. Schedule/Milestones/Dates 

Feb 4, 2011: Project Begins.
Feb 28, 2011: Conference call with all PIs and the ATR to reaffirm Schedule/Milestones and project planning.
March 2011: NPS recruits and hires field interns to assist with rocky intertidal fieldwork.
May-Jun, 2011:   Rocky Intertidal field data collection at all sites including PRNS and GGNRA.
Jun-Aug, 2011: ROV data collection for subtidal biodiversity at all MPA and control locations.
Sep-Dec, 2011:    Post-processing of ROV video transects.
November 2011:   Draft final report for intertidal program; subtidal project images and representative video.
Dec 1, 2011:   Comments due from NPS to UCSC on Draft final report for intertidal program.
Jan 15, 2012: Final intertidal program report due to NPS. Delivery of comprehensive baseline intertidal database for North-Central California MPA sites and reference areas.
February 2012:  NPS completes science communication audio slideshow and research brief on the intertidal program results.
March 2012:  NPS recruits and hires science communication interns to develop video slideshows highlighting the science and results of the project.
May 30, 2012:   Annual project report for both intertidal and subtidal components.
Complete video record and all database files will be delivered to the California Department of Fish and Game and the National Park Service.
September 2012:   Science communication interns complete science communication products. Products posted to web.
Nov 30, 2012: Interim report for subtidal project components.
March 30, 2013:   Draft final reports for subtidal surveys - including species richness, diversity, community analysis, abundance and benthic habitat maps and summary analyses. 
April 30, 2013:   NPS Comments on draft final subtidal report due to the PIs.
May 2013:  PIs present results to NPS in a public lecture and discussion with NPS staff and local community members.
May 30, 2013:  Final report for subtidal surveys - including species richness, diversity, community analysis, abundance and benthic habitat maps and summary analyses. 
July 29, 2013:  End of 60-day project wrap up period.


B. Description of Project Products/Reports

  1. Project expenditure reports for matching funding will be provided to NPS by UCSD cooperators concurrently with each project invoice.
  2. Annual and the Final Project Reports as listed in Article V, Section A will include in digital form (and hardcopy if requested by NPS):
    1. All data and analyses produced from this work will be fully integrated with other baseline data products in the North Central Coast Study.
    2. Selected project images and representative video clips.
    3. Results and summary of species richness, diversity, community analysis, abundance and benthic habitat maps.
    4. All data from this portion of the study will be integrated with Department data from previous Pt. Reyes surveys.
    5. All Data from the ROV Surveys including selected project images and representative video clips.
    6. A dedicated portion of annual project report for MPAs adjacent to NPS waters.
    7. A summary final report- including abundance, species diversity and habitat species.
    8. Complete video record and all database files delivered on DVD or hard drive.
    9. Comparative analysis of the two data collection methodologies.
    10. Delivery of comprehensive baseline intertidal database for North-Central California MPA sites and reference areas.
    11. Delivery of NPS generated audio slideshows on NPS websites.
    12. Delivery of NPS generated research briefs on NPS websites.

C. Delivery of Project Products

  1. One electronic (pdf) and one hard copy (if requested) of all products will be submitted to the ATR.
  2. One electronic (pdf) copy of the final report will be submitted to the NPS Californian CESU Research Coordinator.
  3. Two paper copies and one electronic (pdf) copy of the final report will be submitted to:  Nancy Hori, NPS Regional Librarian, National Park Service, Pacific West Regional Library, 168 S. Jackson, Seattle, WA 98104.
