The workshop, sponsored by the California Sea Grant College System in cooperation with the University of Hawaii Sea Grant College Program, was hosted by Kasetsart University in Bangkok and held in Phuket, Thailand in 1997. It is the seventh in a series dealing with economically important tropical and subtropical algae and, for the first time, includes chapters on the Halymenia species.
